Community Helper: Doctor

This week we had a visitor of a doctor. She came to tell us what do the doctors do to help us. After that, the children brought their teddys to class and we all played in the Teddy Bear Hospital. So much fun! Learning by doing...

Community Helper: Police

At the end, a reflection moment: what did we do? How did we do it? What did we learn?
Always nice to have guest speakers in the classroom. Their experiences enriches us all!

Coomunity Helper: Police

The Traffic Police Officer came to school. Interesting and sometimes a bit scary to see the children crossing the road on their own. It is all part of the growing process... And of our inquiry too!!

Children and their routines

Children at Library. Friday morning...
The Listening centre is one of the favourite ones.
I also have to register Kiga 1's first assembly. They did a very good job!

Our Community Helpers

Children working at the learning centres. Reading the room, Math, Role play (shop) and writing the room. The afternoons are unit and/or centre based work moments.

Helping Hands unit of Inquiry...

We went for a walk in Wallisellen (our neighborhood) to find out who works there. We, decided, to majke our community map.
Here, also, is our circle of respect, with some of our class rules. It works really well!

Helping Hands unit of Inquiry

Our first unit of inquiry, "Helping Hands" (community helpers) is a great topic to start the school year. We've been talking about who works us at our school community, how we could also help and the all the neighborhood workers. It has been very interesting! We've invited Ms. Susanne (school's secretary) and Mr. Butler (the principal) to tell us what they do to help us to learn. Kiga 1 was, of course, also invited!!!
